David L. Thelen Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Secondary Education
David Thelen has been recognized as a Professional of the Year for 2011-2012

Kimball, NE, January 25, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Thelen, the new K - 12 vocal music teacher at Kimball Public Schools, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Secondary Education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

During his 16-year career, Mr. Thelen has kept students of all ages upbeat through music education. He has spent the past 12 years working as a music and speech teacher, as well as a K - 12 guidance counselor, at McPherson Public School. He was responsible for coordinating music programs and overseeing the speech and drama departments. As a guidance counselor, Mr. Thelen helps students prepare for college and triumph during difficult times. This year he is the new K-12 Vocal Music teacher for Kimball Public schools in Kimball, Nebraska.

A graduate of the University of Wyoming, Mr. Thelen completed a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and a Bachelor of Arts in education. He is a member of the Heartland Singers Group and ASCD. He is involved with the Music Educators National Conference, now The National Association for Music Education. Always bringing positive energy to the classroom, he is the five-time recipient of a Optimist of the Year Award and Zone Optimist of the Year Award.
