Sister Clara Esker Celebrates 45 Years as an Educator
After tutoring a classmate, Sister Clara Esker recognized her ability to impart knowledge to others
WATSONVILLE, CA, September 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sister Clara Esker, Teacher and Learning Center Director for Moreland Notre Dame School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in language arts instruction.
Nearly fifty years ago, Sister Clara Esker tutored a classmate and realized her natural ability to explain concepts akin to the way her teachers taught her throughout her life. She was so gratified by the thought of imparting a great deal of knowledge to others that it became her professional focus. She pursued and completed a master's degree in elementary education, with a minor in social studies, at Clarke College in Iowa, and established her career with zest and wholehearted commitment.
An expert in language arts, Esker maintains a good sense of humor, which she considers the primary attribute of her success as an educator. She came into her current position at Moreland Notre Dame School 12 years ago, where she bears the responsibility of teaching English skills to eighth-grade students and religion classes to seventh-grade students. In addition, she manages the composition classes for first- through eighth-grade students. Esker is also a fervent supporter of sports events at her school.
In 2010, students dedicated the Moreland Notre Dame yearbook to Esker, an accolade that evinces the positive impact she had on the education of her students. Further, she has been selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America on four occasions, and was recently named a Cambridge Who's Who VIP of the Year. Despite her numerous awards, it is of her students that Esker is most appreciative:"The most gratifying aspect of [my] career is meeting with returning alumni, who thank [me] for teaching them how to write well and reinforcing the English skills necessary for success," she told Cambridge Who's Who in her most recent interview.
An active member of the National Community Education Association, Esker intends to continue teaching in the future and to help children express themselves. Further, she will continue in her longtime volunteer work with wildlife protection groups.
