Dr. Eileen M. Gentilcore Recognized for Excellence in Education
Dr. Eileen Gentilcore is an Educational Administrator
SYOSSET, NY, August 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Eileen M. Gentilcore was recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education. Her leadership capability and capacity to develop programs and diagnose the needs of children with disabilities have been recognized by the New York State Senate (Woman of Distinction, 1998). She has also received many local awards.
Dr. Gentilcore grew up with a passion for teaching, and her career has spanned more than four decades. She served as a teacher, reading consultant, lead teacher and specialist for diagnosing the special needs of children, prior to becoming an elementary school principal. In this capacity, she managed a school building, including observing and evaluating teachers. Her career has encompassed many elementary positions, including organizing a nursery school in Germany, and serving as a teaching assistant at Hofstra University. Dr. Gentilcore is credited with writing curricula, including a full-day kindergarten program and Developmental Learning Program. She also served as a Title IX compliance officer in the Syosset school district for 20 years, ensuring that everything was in compliance with state and federal laws.
Currently, Dr. Gentilcore serves as an Interim Principal during times of transition. Dr. Gentilcore attributes her passion for education and success to having the good fortune to associate with positive people and to her upbringing. She proudly states that she grew up in a charitable family and volunteering was a way of life. Her dad was Chief of Police in the Village of Bayville and her mother served on all auxiliaries that assisted people in times of need.
Dr. Gentilcore holds a Doctorate in Administration and Literacy; a Master's degree in Reading, and an SAS Degree and Certification in Supervision and Curriculum and for Reading and Learning Disabilities, all from Hofstra University. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from The State University of New York at Potsdam. Dr. Gentilcore's philanthropic affiliations include the many projects of Rotary International, a service organization of 1.2 million worldwide. She served as a District Governor for Nassau, Queens and Brooklyn, as well as an international World Coordinator for Literacy and Health and Hunger Projects. Dr. Gentilcore has been on medical missions to India, Honduras, Russia and China. She has also immunized children against the Polio Virus in India. Dr. Gentilcore also serves on the Board of Directors for Gift of Life, District 7250 (heart surgery for children), The Anchor Program and RotaCare (free medical care for the needy poor & uninsured). Her future plans include continuing in her philanthropic endeavors and traveling to countries in need, especially for children's causes.
