Betina M. Peer Celebrates 22 Years as a Nursing Professional
A registered nurse, Tina Peer trains emerging nurses in such areas as acute care nursing

TWIN FALLS, ID, July 13, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Betina Marie Peer, Home Care and Hospice Manager at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center and former Associate Professor of Registered Nursing at the College of Southern Idaho, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

When she is in need of motivation as a home care and hospice manager, Ms. Peer thinks back to her experience as a 14-year-old working in a nursing home: "It was a blessing watching the nurses work with patients who were in pain or dying. They seemed to be able to offer the proper care and comfort to make everything seem as if it would work out for the best," she says. This memory drives Ms. Peer, now with 22 years of her own professional experience, to provide the same kind of care and comfort at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. In addition, as an associate professor at the College of Southern Idaho, she led medical-surgical nursing programs and supervised students pursuing acute care programs.

Ms. Peer earned her credential as a registered nurse in 1989 and worked in medical-surgical nursing for four years. She then entered the home health arena, where she worked in a leadership position as a regional clinical services coordinator in charge of five offices. Her short stint in long-term care was followed by some time in public health nursing, during which she coordinated the child health programs for a seven-county district
.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University in 1999, Ms. Peer completed a master's degree in nursing education from the University of Wyoming in 2005. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership at the University of Idaho. In addition, she attends multiple workshops and seminars across the nation, and enjoys sharing information and experiences with like-minded professionals
.
Ms. Peer is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Idaho State Nursing Association and Sigma Theta Tau International. She served as an ambassador for the National League for Nursing in 2007. Looking forward, she intends to continue training emerging nurses, caring for patients, and inspiring her children to work hard and believe in their dreams.
