Olympian University Cosmetology Student Wins First Place in Bridal Updo Competition
Renne Anaya, a cosmetology student at Olympian University cosmetology school in Roswell, New Mexico won first place in the bridal updo category at the Educational Forum in Fort Worth, Texas.

ROSWELL, NM, December 01, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Renne Anaya, a cosmetology student at Olympian University cosmetology school, 4501 N. Main St. in Roswell can say, "I do, I do, I did it!" after winning first place in the Bridal Updo competition at the regional Educational Forum in Fort Worth, Texas.
Students in the Bridal Updo category were encouraged to create a beautiful and creative bridal updo on a mannequin. Anaya's entry consisted of a two-tone gold and chestnut color that was swept to one side. The back of the mannequin boasted an intricate roll of curls intertwined with hair fashioned in a row of rings. Interspersed in the updo were pieces of an ivory-colored veil, pearl and lace that also mirrored the mannequin's bodice.
"Renne's entry was not only beautiful and elegant, there wasn't a hair out of place in her entry," said Kristi Eaton, the Phase II instructor at the Roswell cosmetology school. Peggy Richburg, director at Olympian University said Anaya's attention to detail and dedication to perfection is a hallmark of her work in the classroom and on the floor.
The Roswell cosmetology school also won first and second place in the three person team competition, second place in the bridal updo category and third place in the fantasy hair contest. Anaya also placed fifth in the fantasy hair category.
Students from 20 schools were eligible to compete. The Roswell school has captured more than 20 awards in the competition in the past five years.
There were three categories at the Educational Forum: a competition for a Bridal Mannequin, a Fantasy Mannequin, as well as a three-person team event. In all three categories students were encouraged to pull out the stops and create an original, themed entry that incorporated hair and makeup that would wow the judges, spectators and fellow students. Each entry was judged based on creativity, originality, innovation, color and theme.
The award-winning school is currently accepting applications for men and women interested in a career in beauty. For more information call 575-623-6331 or visit www.olympianuniversity.com.
