Statement of Attorney David S. Senoff on the Troubling Trend of Children Victimized by Negligent Adults in Pennsylvania
Lawyer for victims in Kids for Cash case speaks out regarding similarities between that case and the Penn State University sex scandal.

PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Attorney David S. Senoff, the Philadelphia-based partner in the Caroselli, Beachler, McTiernan & Conboy law firm, released the following statement today on the similarities between the so-called Kids for Cash case in Luzerne County, PA and the Penn State University sex scandal. Senoff and the Caroselli Beachler firm currently represent more than 300 victims in the Kids for Cash civil case.

"Having worked the last three years seeking justice for the children and families victimized by Judge Michael Conahan and Judge Mark Ciavarella in the Kids for Cash case in Luzerne County, I had the same sick, outraged feeling this week when I heard about the Penn State child sex scandal.

"As the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader editorialized yesterday, the similarities between the two scandals are striking: children victimized by adults, a trusted leader betraying that trust, and a widespread failure to act swiftly when presented with troubling facts and mounting evidence that something horrible was happening.

"When two cases that involve disgraceful examples of adult negligence and child victimization happen back to back in the same state, it can't be ignored. We must act swiftly and with a sense of outrage to deliver justice on behalf of these young victims.

"Fortunately for the children in the Kids for Cash case the criminal system is delivering positive results as the adults are being sentenced, and we continue to work tirelessly on their behalf in the civil proceedings.

"We are similarly aggressively investigating the ways in which we can help the kids in the Penn State case obtain their measure of justice. No child in that case should have to shoulder the burden of what happened to them without the strongest possible support from our system of justice."
