League of Women Voters of Northern Valley and Northern New Jersey Community Foundation to Present Charter Schools, Choice and the Future of Public Education
The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley and the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation will present Charter Schools, Choice and the Future of Public Education on November 16, 7:30 p.m., at Englewood Hospital & Medical Center.

LEONIA, NJ, November 04, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley (LWVNV) in conjunction with the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation will present an educational forum, Charter Schools, Choice and the Future of Public Education, on Wednesday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Englewood Hospital & Medical Center's auditorium located at 350 Engle Street in Englewood. The main entrance should be used. The event is Free and open to the public. For information about the forum, call 201-947-0756.

The forum is part of the LWVNV's participation in a nationwide League of Women Voters' study of the "The Role of the Federal Government in Public Education". Stan Karp, Director of the Secondary Reform Project of the Education Law Center, will speak about the various issues surrounding charter schools and their impact upon public education. He will review the history of voucher and charter proposals and address current and pending federal and state issues. An opportunity for questions and discussion will be provided.

The LWVNV, representing over 20 towns in Bergen County, New Jersey, draws members from Alpine, Bergenfield, Cliffside Park, Closter, Cresskill, Demarest, Dumont, Edgewater, Emerson, Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Fort Lee, Hackensack, Harrington Park, Haworth, Hillsdale, Leonia, Montvale, New Milford, Northvale, Norwood, Old Tappan, Park Ridge, Tenafly, Washington Township, and Woodcliff Lake.
