Dr. Kinnor Chattopadhyay Makes The Grade With Stanford Who's Who

MONTREAL, QC, CANADA, November 12, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stanford Who's Who proudly announces the addition of Dr. Kinnor Chattopadhyay to the exclusive network of premier professionals as a result of his remarkable work in engineering research. As a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the McGill Metals Processing Centre, as well as throughout his brilliant professional career, Dr. Chattopadhyay has consistently displayed the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be mentioned among the elite.
Dr. Chattopadhyay has been involved in process metallurgy research since 2007. He has developed an excellent knowledge in Ladle and Tundish Metallurgy and has pursued extensive research in the field. In his role as a Post-Doctoral Fellow, he is working on continuous casting and associated heat, mass and fluid flow for a project that will be carried out for Rio Tinto Iron and Titanium. Dr. Chattopadhyay's main tasks on the project is to improve liquid steel quality; better melt temperature control; improve existing tundish design and associated flow modifiers; and reduce defects in the final cast product.
Earning a Master of Engineering degree and PhD in Mining and Materials Engineering from McGill University in a period of three years, Dr. Chattopadhyay was one of the fastest PhD graduates of all time in North America. During his graduate studies, he worked at the prestigious McGill Metals Processing Centre with Prof Roderick I.L.Guthrie, working on steelmaking and casting. Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Chattopadhyay earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Jadavpur University.
Dr. Chattopadhyay is a member of several organizations including the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum; Association for Iron & Steel Technology; The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society; and the Indian Institute of Metals. He has been the recipient of various awards, including the Best Graduate Poster Award from the Conference of Metallurgists in Vancouver, 2010; Recipient of Research Excellence award from McGill University, 2010; Recipient of Principals Graduate Fellowship from McGill University, 2008.
