As a Professor at Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning and the University of Guelph-Humber, as well as throughout his brilliant professional career, Dr. Trovato has consistently displayed the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.

Dr. Trovato is a creative, innovative, justice and educational professional with extensive senior management and leadership experience. He has a particular interest in teaching, learning and leading in policing and educational environments that offer clear opportunities for shaping and developing organizations and its members to better serve the communities who entrust them.

Dr. Trovato currently serves as Program Head of the Justice Studies Program at the University of Guelph-Humber. He is responsible for direct management of a multi-million dollar contract to facilitate professional training and higher education needs of all senior civilian and newly promoted uniform supervisors, middle managers and senior management of the Toronto Police Service.

He also served as Program Coordinator of Police Foundations and a senior consultant for professional studies at the Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. Dr. Trovato was responsible for managing students' issues for the PFP program, recommending hire of part-time faculty and teaching in most of the 30 courses in the PFP program. He was also responsible for developing professional leadership curriculum of studies for justice professionals and police front line and middle managers for policing services in Ontario.

During his collegiate career, Dr. Trovato earned a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Niagara University and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Toronto. He also served with the Toronto Police Service for 30 years. Dr. Trovato has been the recipient of numerous awards, including Innovation of the Year Award in 2005; Distinguished Faculty of the Year Award in 2006; National Teaching and Leadership Excellence Award in 2007; and Community Service College Presidents Award in 2009. He is a Life Member of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.
