Autism Education Services Brings New Light to St. Vrain Valley Autism Programs
Autism Education Services is excited to announce another autism education success story with our training program at St. Vrain Valley School District.
SAN DIEGO, CA, November 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Autism Education Services is excited to announce another autism education success story with our training program at St. Vrain Valley School District. Autism EDS was instrumental in defining the district's needs as well as developing and implementing their autism education program.
St.Vrain School District (http://www.stvrain.k12.co.us/), located in Longmont, Colorado, is Colorado's ninth largest school district and serves 27,000 students each year. The district believes that special education is not simply a place where special needs students are sent, but rather a variety of services and resources designed specifically for students to allow them to be a part of the natural education and social system, not an education system separate from traditional education.
In partnering with Autism EDS the St. Vrain School District has been able to provide the hands-on training needed to give their teachers the confidence to work with even the most complex autism cases.
Jackie Wittington of the St. Vrain School District stated, "Over the past 2 and 1/2 years, St. Vrain has moved from sporadic, inconsistent services to consistent structures, curriculum and supports for students on the spectrum. The result of our partnership has resulted in students with autism returning to our District and a waitlist for students from surrounding Districts. Students with autism and their families are looking forward to a bright, engaging and contributing future. It was a wonderful experience for all of us to work with such a knowledgeable, experienced and caring team of consultants."
Autism spectrum disorders affect more than 48 million people world wide. These developmental disorders range from mild to severe. Mild, or high functioning, autism is often diagnosed as Asperger's Syndrome and the child may show few outward signs of autism. More sever cases of autism may render a child unable to communicate or function in a social setting. Autism EDS provided an objective needs assessment for St. Vrain that supported the District in developing and implementing an autism needs program for students from ages 3 to 21.
"St. Vrain School District is an example of exactly why Autism Education Services began and what type of value we can bring to a school district who is trying to help their students with autism. I am very pleased with the outcomes so far and we will be working with St. Vrain to maintain the results into the future," says Judy Monday, Founder and CEO of Autism Education Services.
