Ms. Smick has more than 18 years of professional experience in education and eight years of teaching experience with the Harford County Public School District. Her daily responsibilities include teaching secondary education courses, creating lesson plans, consulting with parents, facilitating tutoring programs and collaborating with faculty members. She attributes her success to her upbringing, work ethic and the continued support of her family.

A Certified Reading Specialist from Loyola College, Ms. Smick received her Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Towson University in 1991 and her Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Maryland in 1986. Additionally, she holds a certification in English from the College of Notre Dame. She is a member of the International Reading Association and the National Council of Teachers of English. In five years, Ms. Smick hopes to complete her Master's Degree in Library Science.
